TRANSCRIPT

“Capitalism is based on greed and excess consumption.”  “When someone becomes rich, it’s at the expense of another person becoming poor.”  “The early church encouraged socialism and having all things in common.”  “Capitalism robs and rapes God’s creation.”

You’ve probably heard Christians make some of these condemnations of capitalism. But are they true – is capitalism really at odds with a biblical view of economics?  Is socialism and its principle of redistribution of wealth (or as I call it, “shared mediocrity”) more Christian than capitalism?

This weekend, Labor Day Weekend, is a holiday with socialistic roots and principles in line with Karl Marx’s famous exclamation: “Workers of the world, unite!”  In light of this, Jay Richards, author of Money, Greed, and God: Why Capitalism is the Solution and Not the Problem, will join us in Hour 1 of The Christian Worldview to dispel common myths that some Christians believe about capitalism.  You won’t want to miss this very important program.
