Are American Christians Tone Deaf?

This weekend’s program doesn’t deal with having an ear for music but rather the tone of how Christians discuss life.  In other words, is there only one type of tone – an encouraging, uplifting, hopeful, and happy one – with which Christians should speak because anything else is too negative and judgmental, a turn-off to non-Christians, even hateful, and downright unbiblical?  Read more

Have a Meaningful Thanksgiving

November 27, 2008

America’s first president, George Washington, proclaimed the following on the first national day of Thanksgiving, October 3rd, 1789: “It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors.”

Sadly, from what I hear and see, very little gratitude to God takes place anymore on Thanksgiving. “Turkey Day” is now reserved for watching football games or non-redemptive movies and strategizing about shopping plans for “Black Friday.”

The prophet Hosea said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). This is certainly what has taken place with the American people. We don’t even know what we’re supposed to know about Thanksgiving or other important facets of our history, like the largely Christian founding principles of this country. The government educational system has done just the opposite of educate – it’s dumbed down our citizens into a stupor of ignorance and dependence.

For evidence of this uninformed populous, look no further than Read more

In Times Like These You Need a Savior…and Sound Teachers

November 27, 2008

Editor’s Note: It is an honor to post the first blog entry by my mother, Mary Jane Wheaton, on TheChristianWorldview.com. In her mid-70’s and a follower of Christ for 51 years, she has had a deep impact on me, our family, and many others. She writes today on the importance of hearing sound teachers of the Word, especially in the midst of these changing and challenging times.

The first believer in my family was my grandmother, who was saved in 1955 after hearing a pastor preach on the radio. Her daughter – my mother – then came to be a follower of Christ two years later, again after listening to Christian radio. Christian teaching on radio has had an eternal impact on our entire family and that is one of the reasons she encouraged me to get into Christian radio six years ago. Here is what Mom has to say this Thanksgiving Day.

Alistair Begg sent the below article in his TruthLines newsletter this month. WIth all the troubling news we hear day after day, it is encouraging to be reminded that “our times are in His hands” (Psalm 31:15). As the hymnist wrote, Read more

Hetero-Immorality and Christian Indifference

November 22, 2008

LISTEN NOW: [audio:http://www.thechristianworldview.com/audio/TCW112208pod.mp3]

It’s easy for Christians to point fingers at the homo-revolution taking place in America, but by all accounts, the church has a major hetero-immorality problem as well…and seems pretty indifferent about it.

While statistics can be inaccurate or misinterpreted, it’s safe to say that far too many professing Christians are either involved in extra-marital sex or pornography Read more

E-Harmony, Campolo, and the Gay Cabal

E-Harmony Goes Gay

Dr. Dobson of Focus on the Family has promoted eHarmony but will he continue to do that now that the owner has knuckled under to a lawsuit in New Jersey and will offer “same-sex” matches? The homosexual jackboot crowd continues its relentless march across American culture and men like the founder of eHarmony are only too willing to knuckle under and conform to their terrorist demands.

Tony Campolo: I Opposed Prop 8

I’m shocked, just shocked. Tony Campolo on the opposite side of biblical morality? Say it isn’t so. The Baptist Press reports. Tony and I had a dust up at a National Religious Broadcasters convention years ago that I’ve never forgotten. A former homosexual from a New York ministry and I went over to the Zondervan booth where Mr. Campolo was holding forth on his latest book. Having thoroughly exposed Mr. Campolo’s false teachings in a paper I had written entitled, “Renegade Prophet: A Look at the Teachings of Dr. Tony Campolo”, I was interested in what Campolo was promoting at NRB. The Zondervan booth was pretty empty so my friend and I approached him to ask why he was not teaching that Jesus Christ could deliver from homosexuality. Tony came unhinged when he Read more

Christian, Do Not Fear an Obama Administration

November 20, 2008

There’s no question in my mind that there are heavily overcast skies ahead for Christians in America.  I believe we are about to experience a governing administration with the most humanistic, unbiblical worldview in our nation’s history.  I expect that there will be very little in the next four – or even eight – years for Christians to cheer about from a legislative standpoint.  Look for an expansion of the killing of the unborn and born, judicial appointments with liberal worldviews to the Supreme Court, lessened support for Israel, restrictions on Christian speech (especially against the gay agenda and for the exclusivity of the gospel), homeschooling, and other rights and privileges Christians have previously enjoyed in America.

Suffice it to say that with an almost diametrically opposed worldview to that of true followers of Christ, nothing but disappointment and conflict and suppression and perhaps even persecution will result from this administration…unless you put your head in the sand, keep quiet, and go with the flow.

Yet, the Christian life is not one of despair no matter who the governing powers are.  The hope that Christians have extends far beyond Read more

Battling for Truth in the War of Ideas

November 20, 2008

Let’s get real, Christians. Politics is about power and influence, and we are currently witnessing a colossal shift in power and influence in America away from “traditional” (read, more biblical) values toward “progressive” (read, more humanist) values.

If you believe Christians shouldn’t try to influence or gain earthly power, then this article isn’t for you. Just stick with praying, and singing, and fellowshipping, and softballing, and scrapbooking – all good things, I might add. But please don’t be shocked or complain when you’re told you can’t preach the whole gospel (just the nice parts), when full term babies are slaughtered in the name of “choice”, or when your employer tells you the company can’t afford to pay exorbitant taxes and you anymore, and therefore, you must go. If you believe that Christians should have a voice and take seats in every corner of the public square, then you should realize one thing: Read more

God Must Go…And Take Truth With Him

November 20, 2008

The below column from the American Thinker entitled “Orwell’s Children” by Bruce Walker precisely describes the process by which a free nation like the United States transitions into a slave-state of socialism or outright communism. Don’t think it’s happening in the good ol’ U-S of A? When you read Walker’s list of telltale signs – based on George Orwell’s famous book, 1984 – I think you’ll begin to understand that a brave new America awaits us on January 21, 2009 when the Obama administration takes control.

It’s interesting what must go first: God. And then second: truth. With God and truth (i.e. the Bible) out of the picture – and a populous devoid of their knowledge – then man and government can make up the rules. Third, language is then manipulated to make evil sound good and good evil (isn’t that a Bible verse? Isaiah 5:20). “The Freedom of Choice Act.” Who could be against freedom or choice? Oh, it’s a radical piece of abortion legislation that Obama has promised to sign first-thing in office? Who would’ve thunk it by such a sweet-sounding title?

It certainly doesn’t take much imagination to see what has been taking place in America and where it’s all going. I would rather doubt these humanistic leaders and their willing masses even realize where Read more
