In Hour 2 of The Christian Worldview this Saturday, we’ll analyze some of the news stories of the week from an always-biblical perspective: more “inauguration invocation situations” involving gay bishop Gene Robinson and Rick Warren’s praise for Robinson’s inclusion (huh?!), the man-made global warming myth, and a report card on President Bush for his two terms.  We’ll also take your phone calls in both hours so be ready to contribute to the show.

The Obama administration and America are heading into treacherous territory.  There are certain kinds of behavior that seem to anger God more than others and at this point, America is already on shaky ground. President-elect Obama has asked V. Gene Robinson, the openly gay Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire, to deliver the invocation at a pre-inaugural event this Sunday on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Bishop Robinson said he had been reading inaugural prayers through history and was “horrified” at how “specifically and aggressively Christian they were.” He states, “I am very clear that this will not be a Christian prayer, and I won’t be quoting Scripture. The texts I hold as sacred are not sacred texts for all Americans, and I want all people to feel that this is their prayer.”

Robinson said he might address the prayer to “the god of our many understandings,” language that he said he learned from Read more

You’ve seen the images of war on TV.  “The Israelis and Palestinians are at it again,” you say.  The United Nations and world media portrays Palestinians as victims of Israeli aggression and occupation.  Conservative Christians and Jews view Israel as acting in self-defense.  Who’s right and is there a solution to this age-old conflict?  Why do there seem to be “irreconcilable differences” between these two peoples?  Why is this conflict even important for Christians to understand when millions more die in other places around the world without much attention?  Former Palestinian terrorist and now Christian Walid Shoebat will help us understand the conflict.

HOUR 2 (LIVE Saturdays, 9-10am CT):  The Inauguration Invocation Situation
Guest:  John Stonestreet, Executive Director, Summit Ministries

Rick Warren, evangelical author and pastor of Saddleback Church, accepted an invitation from President Elect Barack Obama to offer the invocation at his January 20th presidential inauguration.  What’s the big deal?  Well, political and religious liberals are up in arms that Obama would invite an evangelical pastor that is against same-sex marriage, and not to be outdone, theologically conservative Christians can’t understand how Warren could pray for a president who is so pro-abortion and pro-gay rights.  So what say you?  Should Warren have accepted the invitation?  Now that he has accepted, what should he pray?  We’ll bat this around with John Stonestreet and also talk about some worldview issues.
